A Number of our own instructors will be teaching the classes. The program follows a very similar format to our Summer Dance Intensive Program to help prepare students for the next level of workshops.

Recreational Program
Our recreational program at Dance Extreme consists of providing our students with high quality dance instruction delivered to by our highly qualified faculty. Our programs begin at 2 ½ years of age and continue all the way up to our adult classes.
Our Creative Movement 1 and 2 classes are designed to develop a child in dance and to help compliment the expectations they are given at school and in other activities. The focus in these classes is on ballet and jazz technique. This is accomplished through exercises, imagination, games and creative movement. They learn to listen to their teacher, work with others in the class and to work independently.
Our Pre-Dance classes follow our Creative Movement program. At this level, students are given the opportunity to choose one or several classes including; ballet, jazz, tap and acro. Students continue to work on skills developed in the Creative Movement program. Now they have the opportunity to use these skills in more specific classes as all disciplines are an individual class. The skills learned in each discipline all compliment each other so there is no wrong choice of class combinations.
Within our recreational program we offer classes at the Junior, Intermediate, Teen, Senior and Adult levels with beginner to advanced classes in each level. This allows new students to join Dance Extreme at any age and they will be grouped according to a developmentally appropriate level. At the recreational level, students are taught following a faculty based syllabi for all disciplines. Using our syllabi, students are assessed annually so that they are able to progress through our uniquely designed program structure.
We have a large variety of dance disciplines to serve your child best. With any dance training we recommend ballet as a compliment to all training as this is where core strength, posture and discipline are developed. In our ballet program, students have the option to enroll in Cecchetti ballet classes and may pursue examinations at the discretion of our Head Ballet Teacher. Or, for those who want to take ballet, we offer recreational ballet classes. We offer classes in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Acrobatics, Pointe, and Conditioning. Students may choose any combination of classes to suit their interests and needs.
We have had many students who have gone on with their dance. Many are instructors at Dance Extreme or at other studios in Ontario. We also have students who have attended Sheridan College Musical Theatre Program, Ryerson University Theatre School and York University Dance Program. We have had many students accepted into summer dance programs including Canada's National Ballet School, Quintee Ballet School of Canada and Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet School.
Not all students pursue dance as a career. However, the life skills they will learn from dance will be with them for the rest of their lives.

Dance Troupe – Competitive & Pre-Competitive Programs
Our competitive program at Dance Extreme is known as Dance Troupe. There are two divisions of our Dance Troupe and within these two divisions; Pre-Competitive and Competitive dancers are divided by age and ability.
Members of our Pre-Competitive program compete and perform in one or more of the following styles of dance: Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre and Hip Hop as well as in an Extended Line each year. Pre-Competitive Troupe attends 2 competitions annually within London. Pre-Competitive dancers are required to take 1-4 classes of ballet, jazz and the discipline in which they will be competing. Our Pre-Competitive program requires 2-4 hours of technical training per week in addition to Saturday choreography classes.
Members of our Competitive program compete and perform in two or more of the following styles of dance: Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Acrobatics, Pointe and/or Hip Hop as well as in a Production or Extended Line each year. Our Competitive Troupe annually attends 4 competitions within London and across Southern Ontario. Our Competitive program requires 2-6 hours of technical training per week in addition to choreography classes for each number dancers perform.
The benefits of our competitive program are countless. Not every dancer competes or performs with the hope of making dance a career. However, through their training dancers gain valuable experience working with others, increased self-confidence and self-esteem and they develop life skills that will be with them for a life time. Students are able to work on performance skills and hone their technical skills with the more immersion in dance. Students all gain the experience of special workshop and exciting travel experiences. Dancers are asked year round to perform at various events and functions including; Canada Summer Games, Ontario Summer Games, Home Opener for the London Knight’s, Half time show for the Harlem Globetrotters, London International Children’s Festival and various fundraisers including the Tara "Boom" Houston Foundation, Children's Health Foundation, Do It For Dad's, Terry Fox Run, Merrymount Children's Centre and more.
Acceptance to either program at Dance Extreme is by audition on a yearly basis. Auditions take place in June as well as September. Days and times for auditions are posted online in advance of the audition dates. Please sign up in advanced of the auditions and complete a form. Our Dance Troupe often performs at various venues and events throughout London. -

same method used by the National Ballet of Canada, Royal Winnipeg
Ballet Company, and the Quinte Ballet School. Cecchetti ballet classes
combine both art and grace with the development of good tone,
technique, and placement while following the International Cecchetti ballet syllabus. -
Ballet is considered to be the foundation

increased fitness, body awareness for performance or personal enjoyment. -

discipline that combines current dance moves with popular musical
trends. Students will develop the latest dance styles in these high
energy and innovative classes. Age appropriate material is presented in
a fun and exciting manner with an emphasis on safe and correct
technical execution. This discipline is especially enjoyed by
high-energy kids, teen and adults. -

Tap is the discipline where your feet make
the music. Paired with popular music, students will learn to improve
their timing and coordination while developing rhythmic and syncopated
footwork. Students of all ages are introduced to classic tap technique
and terminology. Dancers will love learning the hottest tap steps in an
encouraging atmosphere. If you love to make noise with your feet, tap
is the discipline for you. -
Jumps and Turns offers dancers the opportunity to focus on improving the height and flexibility of their jumps and also achieving additional rotations and technical skill in various stylistic turns. -

If your child loves the spotlight, this is the class to join.

new way. Similar to a gymnastics floor routine, students will learn to
combine tricks, balance work and tumbling with dance technique to
create sensational artistic illusions. -
Hip Hop classes are the only place where you can dance to your favourite pop music and learn all the cool dance steps from the hottest music videos. This discipline teaches the latest, most innovative and hottest urban dance techniques! Elements include proper conditioning, stretch and strengthen techniques, steps and combinations. The blend of jazz and street-style dancing has made hip hop a popular choice for dancers. Anyone can join these high-energy classes, as long as you bring some attitude and a little individual style! - Tumbling ~ Enrolled in the Competitive Program, Level 3 recreational students or at the discretion of the Director
This class is designed to teach tumbling skills with a focus on
technical improvement. Flight elements (ariels, back tucks) are

are concurrently taking acrobatics classes and for those who want to
achieve more advanced tumbling skills. -

Irish dances come in several forms, which can be divided into social dances and performance dances. Irish social dancing can be divided further into céilí and set dancing. Irish set and céilí dances are usually danced by couples arranged into formations (sets); frequently squares of four couples, but many other formations are also found. Irish social dance is a living tradition, and variations in the way a particular dance is danced are found across the Irish dance community; in some places, dances are deliberately modified and new dances are choreographed.
Irish performance dancing is traditionally referred to as stepdance. Irish stepdance is notable for its rapid leg movements while body and arms are kept largely stationary (it has been popularised since 1994 by the world-famous show "Riverdance"). Aside from public dance performances, there are also stepdance competitions. Most competitive stepdances are solo dances, though many stepdancers also perform and compete using traditional set and céilí dances. When performed as a solo dance, it is generally characterized by a controlled (but not rigid) upper body, straight arms and the quick and precise movements of the feet.
As a beginner Irish Dancer at Dance Extreme, students will be introduced to the correct foot placement and posture exclusive to Irish Dance. All students will receive strength and conditioning exercises, development of rhythm, and the material to be proficient in a reel, jig, hop jig and slip jig by the end of a 16 week term. The introduction of the “hard shoe” will begin after the dancer is comfortable in all their “soft shoe” dances.
Scottish gillies or ballet slippers are acceptable. Dance Extreme dance wear is encouraged. Adult classes are developed on a one on one basis withal the elements of the children’s class yet at a slower, lower impact level.
There is a $50 fee charged by the Irish Council for all students taking Irish. This is a yearly fee that will be charged to all Dance Extreme students above the cost of taking lessons.
